A wonderful dad and grandad

I don’t really know where to start. I have so many lovely memories of my dad.
Countless wonderful family holidays in the U.K. and abroad having lots of fun.
We went to Florida when I was 15 and dad wasn’t great on rides. I remember Sarah, mum and I leaving him on a bench with the shopping bags whilst we went round the Hulk rollercoaster single rider queue several times. We finally returned to him waiting on the bench and claimed the queue was really long!
I remember going to Cyprus and we hired a jeep to drive from Protarus to Paphos. We ended up in the mountains at Paphos far too close to the edge of the road, near to a steep drop. Sarah and I were hiding under a sarong until we returned to safety!
Dad would do anything for his family, from car breakdown rescues to giving us the last piece of cake.
I had a paper round and dad would often take me when the weather was bad. Before I gave up my round he took me most mornings, even when it was not raining! I would then miss the bus and he would take me to school too!
My dad was so funny. He had a silly fake grin he would do when asked to smile. He couldn’t open a present without shaking and squishing it to guess what it was. He used lots of silly words that we as a family use all the time, they will always make me smile. Many of them linked to dad’s spelling mishaps!
Dad had a great taste in music. I would often pinch his Sash! CD’s! We all enjoy the fabulous photos of dad as a DJ with a moustache and cracking sideburns.
Maddison loved playing with her grandad and he did too. She would make him play schools and call him “Jorge”, telling him off when he got his spellings wrong. He would happily play along, even though he was tired by the time she left.
Dad being amazing with his hands made Maddison an wonderful swing at mum and dad’s house. I have photos of so many people enjoying it. More recently he made a mud kitchen for Maddison with a working tap that connected to a hose.
I could go on and on. I am so fortunate to have had such an amazing dad and Maddison an amazing grandad. He will be missed and remembered everyday.
